Part 6

Tutor feedback was positive and the points raised were helpful.

“They look like locations that might take

some time to get to, so possibly remote, without

People.”

Project 2 has a clear place and look to it and it evokes a sense of remoteness from the perspectives I’ve chosen to draw.  The time of the year has something to do with that and the time of day.  I deliberately chose times when the locations were less populated, to ensure that the isolation and remoteness of the place was more obvious.

“There’s something about the windblown

‘edge-lands’ that make me think about ends of

the earth, and places of contemplation. What do

you think it is about these places that draws you?”

This was an interesting perspective from my tutor, and has given me food for thought.  It has ‘felt right’ to go with the instinct to take photos of places for the last while, and although I might not have the words to express the why, there was always something stirring to push me to do it, so I trusted that feeling.

“The compositions themselves are really nicely

executed. The visual dynamics across the

publication works well too to give a sense of

balance across the pages.”

This feedback was very helpful as sometimes the process of going on instinct and trusting the beat and rhythm within a series of images, can feel like you are quite alone.  So to hear that the compositions resonate well and the balance is present, is a combination of relief and delight.

Some good points in the feedback that can help me to progress further with Project 2.  I’m still curating my work.  That feels like a slow process but a very necessary one, and  an important process to continue with.
